Yeah you're definitely right about the extra support from the vertical support bars! I was hoping to add a set more for added support/peice of mind. But I'll be seeing the Leitner team this weekend so I'll definitely ask if they plan to make a set! And good luck installing your Leitner rack...

There's definitely a bit of noise. No whistling or anything outrageous but definitely not the same as having nothing up there

Its just an overlay so super easy! They provide the spray bottle with a little soap and the squeegee as well.
