Looks like the 2024 model year is coming to a close. Toyota seems to have just shifted over to building what's now labeled as a 2025. I can see a few trucks in the pre-build phase when searching the nationwide inventory on the main Toyota site.

Funny thing is, mine was just built. Had I waited like a week, it would have been a 2025. There is no difference between my 2024 and the new 2025s - literally just a point on the calendar when they switched it up. A little annoying, but at least I know they worked a lot of kinks out over the last 12 months of production. Just wish it lined up a little better for me. Either way. I'm not actually complaining. But thinking about resale and value primarily.

Do you have a link to share to this information? I don't see anything like this on toyota.com.

2025 Tacomas are already hitting lots. So is the new 2025 4Runner. Still in smaller quantities since it's early.

But you can just input 2025 as a model year and whatever other specs you want above.

To my knowledge, 2024s stopped being built in mid-December. But all that happens is the new trucks are still being made, just relabeled as 2025. Nothing special happens otherwise haha.

OK, I'm familiar with that site. I thought you had someplace special you were looking up trucks. That site doesn't work for me.

That is my someplace special haha. Most people have no clue that this is an option. I didn't either until I started digging. Otherwise, I was looking at a super limited inventory (and often inaccurate). I would try different browsers, etc. Maybe clear your cache/history. It worked on a few different devices just now. But it does have a lot of software/plugins on the pages, could also contribute depending on how you are trying to access it.

That has been the site I have been using to search inventory within 500 miles. It won't let me filter on transmission. I found individual dealer sights are sometimes more useful. Not always, but sometimes. I also found that the availability information is not consistent between the Toyota site and the dealers.

Example. Dealer site says they have 4 manual transmission TRD-OR in transit or in build phase. Toyota says only two. The Toyota site also shows a truck in inventory at my local dealer that is not on the dealer lot.

In reality, it doesn't matter. My three local dealers wouldn't help me find my truck. My only choice were trucks they had on the lot. A dealer 220 miles away did a search and found one in production within two hours of talking with them. I won't see it until late March, but at least I'm not settling for what the dealer wants to sell me.

I gotcha. I had some issues with the configurator too. I just picked my main wants and started scrolling and calling. It's definitely not perfect.

Yeah I got a bit lucky. There were only two I could find and I was willing to fly a reasonable distance. Glad you got what you wanted! What's the special spec?

From the emails I sent several dealers. Basically I didn't want to pay for add-ons that I was going to take off and replace. Only two dealers actually looked at my list. The dealer who helped me found 9 scheduled for production. I did have a second dealer 230 miles away find the same trucks, but they were two days too late.

  • Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4
  • 4-door short bed
  • TRD Off-road upgrade package, not Premium package (not a deal breaker, but not preferred either)
  • 6-speed manual. I might compromise on this when I get desperate. At this time I'm not desperate.
  • Colors: Underground, silver metallic, either of the two whites.

I don't want any of these options:
  • TRD skid plate
  • Moon/sun roof, this is a deal breaker
  • Chrome/black exhaust tip
  • Illuminated front emblem
  • Tonneau cover, another deal breaker
  • ARB rear tow hooks
  • Bed scene lighting

Sounds like a pretty reasonable list. The added options in the don't want bullet list all look like they aren't very standard, at least not on ORs. Besides the moon roof at least.
