Hey everyone.

Since these new engines have turbos, is there a greater need for oil catch can (aka oil separator) system? I know people had beef with them on NA motors, and while I understand the questions, I do believe they still play a positive role.

Anyway, has anyone installed one yet? Any good options out there? And what are your thoughts on their "necessity" given these new motors? I would think it would help to extend the longevity and prevent build-up, etc.

Let me know what you think!

I installed one last fall. https://burgertuning.com/products/b...4&_sid=5f78a103d&_ss=r&variant=45930143285422
When it was very cold (-10 to -30) it caught a lot of water, and needed emptying every time I filled the gas tank. It has caught some oil but very little, maybe a few tablespoons over 6-7K miles? My opinion, save your money.

Very interesting. The one I had my 3G Tacoma, J&L, collected a few ounces every oil change or so. More so in the beginning, when I first installed it, then the collection rate slowed a bit and stabilized. It was like a gasoline, oil, carbon, and water soup. Pretty liquidy. I wonder why on our turbo motors it's not collecting even more... Maybe that's part of all that fancy engineering inside, maybe they found a way to prevent excess blow-by. Not sure.

Yeah, I was surprised how little it caught! I took it off last week, hadn’t checked it in a month and it was empty. I’ll put it back on after OTT tune and see?

Yeah man, let us know.

Very nice! Have you seen how much it collects yet? Or too soon? Everything I've seen shows that they don't collect very much, which is strange. Could just be good engineering on Toyotas side to avoid excessive blow by.
Too soon... I only have about 1600 miles and its probably been on about 2 - 300 miles
