Removal TRD Sport Tailgate Panel

Has anyone removed the inside tailgate panel of their TRD Sport? Was unloading some masonry sand from bed and broke a couple of bags in process. Hosed it off but now I hear something inside of tailgate whenever I use power lift. Not sure what got in and I am worried it could damage lift motor. Is this something I can remove or do I need to take it to the dealer?

I would start by slowly manually cycling the tailgate while rinsing the actual element that rotates/holds the tailgate with water. It should flush most of anything out of there.

The tailgate plastic panel is just held on by a few screws. Very simple to remove.

This shouldn't be something you need to take to the dealer, but I would understand if you don't feel confident.
