Tailgate Unlocking Problem 2024 Taco

I am grateful to find this forum. I have just purchased a 2024 Taco. I have an issue with unlocking my tailgate. Unlocking doors does not unlock my tailgate. I do not have a powered tailgate, but only an easy lowering tailgate. Yet, it will not unlock. There is no special button to release it nor a special button on the fob. I tried the Toyota app which does not work all the time to no avail.

Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated— blessings! rick

I assume you are pushing the unlock button twice (driver door ; all doors and tailgate)?

I have not had trouble with mine unlocking, but the latch itself has been super spongy. I live down a dirt road and I wondered if dirt was getting in it causing the issue.
I didn’t have a problem ever with my 3rd gen tailgate.

I’d agree with SethW3. There’s a setting via the display to unlock all doors (vs just the drivers) when unlocking. This may be the issue. Keep us updated.

I created an account just to respond here. I was having the same problem as Rick with my 2024 TRD Sport. Changing the door unlock setting to “all doors” via the display worked! Thanks all. Hope this helps someone else looking for a fix.
