No Sound in Truck After Speaker Upgrade: Suspecting a Short in Dash Pillar Speaker Installation

This knob came off from my dashboard and it appears to be part of the dashboard controls on your truck. It moves left and right but I cant say what it's purpose is. Maybe it could be a part of an accessory mount or a feature that hasn't been figured out yet by any owner. I think I'd try checking the owner’s manual if I'd find any information inside.

I must have a short in my one-dash pillar speaker when replacing the factory premium JBL speakers because I recently lost all sound inside my truck the other day. Music, tones, everything.

I don't know if it's safe to cut the factory harness off and direct wire to the new dash speaker. I guess what I'd do is retrace my steps. If I could, I'd probably figure out what I did wrong and check all my fuses.

Also, someone advised that I need to disconnect the battery before doing any electrical work next time, which I completely forgot about.
