So Toyota has issued an official TSB for potential faulty transmissions that several have experienced with the new Tacoma. This TSB is for those experiencing transmission issues with a check engine light present. Toyota will replace the torque converter in troubled transmissions under warranty of course. This seems to be due to debris (again) during the machining process. I made a full break down video for you all.

I read somewhere that you can get your VIN checked. Like in a database. You check the first numbers of your vin, then the last. Got anything like that?

Anyone know if you have to break down in order to get the warranty replacement? My truck is in the affected vin range and has had super hard shifts from the beginning and acts weird on occasion as it will go into very high rpms before shifting. Would rather get it dealt with now instead of breaking down when I'm well away from home lol.

The MIL would need to be ON, along with one of the accompanying DTC codes, listed on the TSB.
