Hey all -
I have read about this in a few forums, but there isn't a proper solution for people who don't own trailers.
About a month ago I was towing a 5x9 UHaul utility trailer and everything was fine, until I turned the trailer in to the rental place and the truck kept insisting that there was a trailer attached when there wasn't. It's been a month with drive times sans trailer in between and short of renting another trailer (which is silly) to fix this, it remains a problem.
I am also not prompted with the Trailer Detected message so I can't respond yes or no. I only get the message in the attached image that systems are unavailable and a trailer has been detected so trailer driving assist is active.
Another issue is when I am adding a new trailer to try and force a delete of a trailer that doesn't exist, there is an error message that appears right before loading the presets for each trailer input (attached gif).
I have tried:

I have tried:
- Disconnecting the negative battery for about 40 mins
- Disconnecting the entire battery for about 40 mins
- Pulling fuses that have some kind of trailer name on them
- Buying a bike rack, putting a bike on it to see if it would be recognized
- Bouncing on the ball hitch (hell, why not)
- Turned off BSM because it looks like that is used to detect a trailer
- Tried testing the cheap magnetic trailer lights I purchased from Harbor Freight and unplugging them to see if that had any impact
- Tried backup assist, which seems to think I have a trailer attached even though nothing is visible
- Adding and deleting a trailer in the trailer settings
- Turning on Tow Haul mode for funzies
