I was originally going to change at 1k miles, but I got busy and had to do some driving. Ended up at just over 2,500 miles. My truck came with 2 free oil changes, and I called in advance to make sure the dealer didn't care if I was requesting the service outside the normal interval. I had to explain myself a few times, but they understood and the whole thing was covered. The main reason for doing this was to remove any contaminants and metal from the initial break-in. I've heard several different recommendations, but decided 2,500 miles worked as well. I'll continue at the 5,000 interval moving forward, even if Toyota says you can go 10k. Cheap maintenance, in my opinion.
