Installing New Lensun 100W Hood Mounted Solar Panel

Hood mounted solar panels have been around for a while but I have always been nervous to commit. Finally decided to take the plunge on the new build knowing it’s gonna be around for a while!

Install is super straight forward. Full YouTube video on the channel. Oversized piece of matte black vinyl centers on the recessed portion of the hood. I used a soapy water solution to inch it into the perfect position.

You are supposed to let it dry for a full day before installing the panel but the truck is gonna be sitting for a bit so I installed the solar panel a couple hours later.

The Panel later down nice and tight to the hood which is what I was hoping for. It blends nicely with the angles of the hood!
Hooked the leads right into the starter battery and works great. It has an app to show you the charge status and battery percentage.

Overall a great system.

Thanks. I got the full kit which is the panel, controller and vinyl on sale for $484. It’s a 100w panel and I wired it directly to the starter battery. I will eventually wire it to my house battery when I do a dual battery system.
