- 2024 TRD Offroad Tacoma
Hey 4GTaco family!
We are JBA Offroad. Wanted to say hello and talk a little bit about our company and products.
Jeepin By AL (JBA) started out of necessity. After lifting his own Jeep Liberty, Al Handy had the factory upper A-arms fail early. As an engineer, he set out to fix the problem himself. In late 2004, he installed his first set of custom arms on his 2002 Liberty, borrowing design ideas from oval track race cars. That original Gen 1 design evolved over time into Gen 3 as Al refined and improved it.
We bought the company assets from Al in May of 2007 and continued developing the arms. One of my first changes was updating the ball joint mount to a bolt-in design, which became the Gen 4.5 arms. In early 2008, we introduced a stock-replacement version for non-lifted KJ Libertys. Later that same year, the Gen 5.5 arms were released for the newer KK Libertys.
Around that time, we also began working on lift kits for the Liberty. After years of testing, and eventually building a custom 12-inch lift, we figured out what made Jeep’s IFS work correctly: it needed a variable-rate spring. That led to the first production Jeep Liberty lift kit using coil-over struts with variable-rate springs.
From there, the product line expanded. In 2010, we released upper control arms for lifted WK and XK models, followed by arms for the lowered WK SRT8 in early 2011. Later that year, JBA acquired 4xGuard to add body armor to the lineup. In 2015, we entered the Toyota market, which also marked the transition to the JBA Offroad name.
By the end of 2018, we moved into a new 16,000-square-foot facility to support growth. In 2019, we made the decision to discontinue lift kits, armor, and drop-ship parts to focus entirely on what we do best... control arms. The goal was simple: build the best arms possible and keep them on the shelf, ready to ship within one business day.
That focus paid off. In April 2022, we were granted U.S. Patent No. 11,293,511 for our EZ Lube Bushing, featuring integrated grease channels and pressure relief valves. Today, everything we do is centered on refining and producing high-quality control arms that solve real problems and hold up in the real world.
We have one option for the 4th Gen Tacoma. The STD HC Upper Control Arms.
These are beefy, bolt-on upper control arms built specifically for lifted Toyota Tacoma 2024+ trucks (1″–3.5″ lift). They replace the stock arms to fix alignment issues that come with a lift and get your front end geometry back where it should be. The arms are made from strong DOM steel with a durable powder-coat, featuring our Max 90 ball joints for tons of articulation, and patented EZ Lube bushings that make regular greasing way easier and extend service life. Part of what makes them nice on the trail and street is the built-in caster correction and greasability, so you keep suspension angles right and avoid premature wear. Made in the USA and ship ready to install at a great price point for the performance.
