No Sound After Speaker Upgrade: Suspecting Short From Dash Pillar Speaker Installation

I must have a short in my one-dash pillar speaker when replacing the factory premium JBL speakers because I recently lost all sound inside my truck the other day. Music, tones, everything.

I don't know if it's safe to cut the factory harness off and direct wire to the new dash speaker. I guess what I'd do is retrace my steps. If I could, I'd probably figure out what I did wrong and check all my fuses.

Also, someone advised that I need to disconnect the battery before doing any electrical work next time, which I completely forgot about.
