Hey everyone. Something that I learned right before I got my hybrid Tacoma...

Naturally, many people are wary of new technology. This is the first time a hybrid is available on many Toyota trucks. One thing to note, Toyota has had hybrid vehicles on the market since 1997 (with the introduction of the Prius). They likely were exploring the technology years before. With the Tacoma, they are using technology that has been well-tested and known to be reliable. You're not looking at the latest (more unproven) tech like lithium. Toyota uses a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, which is very established.

Even beyond that, they have a killer warranty on all components. As of 2020, the warranty is 10 years and 150,000 miles. Whatever comes first. So even if something goes wrong in that very long time/mile span, you're covered. I'm not sure about everyone, but I think most people (myself included) don't keep most vehicles that long. And even beyond that, after talking with a few people, it seems that the replacement should be around $3k for a battery alone. I think that's a fair cost of replacement (if it even fails at all).

Let me know you thoughts. But hopefully this helps someone to feel more confident in the new iForce Max setup. Screenshot below is direct from Toyota, so this is all confirmed!

Thanks for sharing! Great to have a good reference point or the very least something that will get indexed and come up on a google search.

For sure! That's one of the reasons that I made the thread. Haven't seen enough people talking about it and I know the hybrid components can put some people off due to uncertainty.
