A few months ago, I had Peak Suspension's Tubular Upper Control Arms installed on the Tacoma, and after running them for a bit now, I wanted to share my experience! If you're considering upgrading your suspension setup or addressing some of the stock components' limitations, these control arms are definitely worth looking into.
**Quality & Build:**
The first thing that stands out is the build quality. The control arms are made from heavy-duty tubular steel with a durable powder-coated finish. Peak has also increased the caster and repositioned the pivot angles to help reduce the stress on the joints while also allowing for proper alignment and improved handling.
The ball joints have been replaced with 1" stainless steel uniballs for maximum strength and increased articulation. As for the inner pivots, I was really impressed with the new dual durometer bushings they've added. The design features a rubber bonded to a composite core, with an inner sleeve inside which helps absorb small vibrations and bumps. The biggest pro of this being that the composite core keeps everything quiet and completely maintenance-free which is a nice change coming from UCAs with zerk grease fittings.
**Performance:**
The performance of my new Peak Suspension Tubular UCAs has been nothing short of impressive. The improved caster and repositioned pivot angles have made a noticeable difference in alignment, allowing for a more accurate and precise setup. Off-road, they feel fantastic—smoothing out rough terrain with ease. The enhanced articulation and reduced stress on the joints contribute to a much more responsive and comfortable ride, making both on-road and off-road handling feel more refined and controlled. Lastly, one the biggest (and probably overlooked) positives to upgrading to these UCAs have been how dang quiet they are! It's nice finally have a truck that doesn't make a ton of noise from the suspension components (no rear leaf springs also help too lol).
**Installation & Fitment:**
These Peak Suspension Tubular UCAs are designed to fit 2024+ Toyota Tacoma models (excluding TRD Pro) with either stock or aftermarket shocks.
The installation process was straightforward, and while I didn’t handle the install myself, Peak Suspension was kind enough to get the job done for me! (which for those of you who don't know, their team is experienced and do installs for just about anything).
However, if you're familiar with suspension components and comfortable doing such installs, this is a job you can definitely tackle yourself—just be sure to get a proper alignment afterward. Expect the install to take a few hours depending on whether you are doing it yourself or getting it handled through a shop.
**Final Thoughts:**
Overall, I’m extremely happy with the Peak Tubular UCAs. They are definitely a solid upgrade for anyone looking to improve their Tacoma’s off-road performance and durability and I'd highly recommend them!
