- 2025 Tacoma TRD Offroad Long Bed Upgrade Package
Just wanted to share my experience running 17x9 wheels with a -12mm offset and 33" mud terrains on my 2025 TRD Off-Road Tacoma.
At first, I loved the stance it created, super aggressive look that really set the truck apart. The problem was the rubbing. It was eating into my wheel well badly. I pulled the back panel out, which helped a ton, but I was still hitting the wheel well anytime I was in reverse at full lock or hit a bump. The tires looked great, but were basically destroying the wheel wells.
I figured since other people were able to fit 35" tires and such that the offset wouldn't be that big of a deal. I was wrong.
I finally decided to throw on a 3.5" lift kit, and that completely solved it. No more rubbing, plenty of clearance, and I get to keep the stance I liked in the first place. Now it drives like it should, and I don’t have to worry about the wheel wells getting chewed up, but now I feel like I need bigger tires to fill the gap even more. However, if you want to see someone really fit a big tire setup, check this out: https://4gtaco.com/threads/37-tires...ssions-minimal-cutting-so-far.1155/#post-4092
Hope this helps anyone considering the same setup yes, it looks killer, but without the lift you’re going to run into some issues.
