Hey guys and girls,

So I'm in the process of pricing out some modifications to the truck and i am wondering what y'alls opinions are on aluminum vs steel skid plates. I am not an every weekend off-roader and don't think i will be sliding this on a rock in the near future. I think for the weight difference I was going to go for aluminum as it will protect the underside a lot better than the factory felt one. The one I'm currently looking at is the Cali Raised ones. I like that they are a Texas company and well made but reasonably priced. What do y'all think? The price between the aluminum vs the steel is only about $50 which I'm not too worried about.

I went with these. Shipping for some reason was only $20-25. For engine and trans skids, 6mm thick stamped aluminum. I can easily jack the pickup up from the engine skid plate. Easy access to change oil as well.

This is a good post to read if you want to get a good understanding - https://trailtacoma.com/armor/skid-plates/aluminum-vs-steel-skid-plates/

But it's simple. If you're going to drag this truck across the rocks, steel. If you're a more casual overlander, aluminum.

Cali Raised now has both. And full kits. For hybrid and non. Had these on my 3G (steel) and they held up great. Just got another set for the 4G in steel again. And some trail edition sliders...

***Edit*** - just noticed you already mentioned Cali. But points still stand lol.
