Personally, I still feel like this is the coolest way to integrate an iPad into your car without ditching the factory headunit or sacrificing settings some owners would want to keep. When I owned my 3rd Gen, my headunit had CarPlay, but I decided to experiment with using an iPad as the main display, and it honestly exceeded my expectations.

Pros: You get a larger, sharper screen, a sleek modern aesthetic, and a super smooth system. You can run all your apps, stream videos or movies, enjoy a clean setup without weird buttons, and personalize the home screen however you want. It’s not too pricey, either—iPad 10 and iPad Air 5 are solid deals. If you already own an iPad, you just need the mounts. So many possibilities with this setup.

Cons: If you’re after better audio quality like some aftermarket headunits offer, this might not cut it. You can’t view the backup camera, which isn’t ideal, but since it’s mounted with magnets, it’s easy to pop off and reattach. The volume knob might be an issue, but I managed fine with my steering wheel controls.
