Wanted to have a discussion on the kind of gas other Taco owners use for their trucks. I'm well aware that the electronic control module in most Toyotas is tuned for 87 octane, which is peak efficiency.

Higher octane gas doesn't necessarily improve performance. Instead, octane ratings indicate how resistant the fuel is to pre-ignition.

Also, I think modern engines have sensors that can help prevent pre-ignition, but there's still a small chance it can happen.

Just an open discussion, let me know what kind of gas you use for your Taco.

I've only ever put 91 (Premium) in my Taco. Would love to run 93, but next to impossible to fine in my geographical region. 100 is easy enough to find, but who wants to pay $9.99+/gal

I mostly use Costco 87 octane. It is Top Tier certified and almost always the least expensive brand in my area. A real plus for me is that I don't have to travel far to get to a Costco pump. I sometimes use Sunoco 87 octane, which is also a Top Tier gasoline.

I go with 91 most of the time. And if I can I always go to a Maverick but they are few and far between in Montana.
