So... hahaha. This might ruffle some feathers.

But, I really want to know what other owners biggest gripes and pain points are. What do you not like, maybe hate, about your 4G Taco?

For me, I have a few small to medium complaints, but nothing I would call very serious.

One, the rocker panel and belly hang lower than last gens. Definitely less clearance overall. But only really matters for moderate to difficult off-roading.

Two, the sensors and collision systems, etc., can be a little annoying. Sometimes they get gunked up with dirt or ice and throw error messages on the dash. You can turn a lot of the beeping and automatic braking off, but some things are just a byproduct of the added tech. Not really complaining, and I haven't had too many issues, but I've disabled a few features for sure.

Three, why do the hybrids not have leads for accessories (besides the factory aux switches) in the engine bay? The starter battery is under the seat, and after you use your aux spots up (easy to do), you need to run leads into the engine bay, or run everything to the cab (way worse, in my opinion).

Four, the factory tailpipe hangs way too low. It's an off-road truck, its going to be one of the first things you smash.

Five, why don't we have a front e-locker option?! Self-explanatory.

Six, the foam under the trim on top of the bed is too flimsy. Once you add any weight to it, especially on the ends (like a camper, topper, etc.), the trim starts to deform and make what seems to be a less stable surface.

Seven, needs bigger cup holders in the center console by driver/passenger.

Eight, ISO dynamic seats should be an option. Maybe that will happen soon.

Nine (okay last one), random... but why can't I buy an OEM snorkel yet?!

Some of these can be fixed or addressed with aftermarket parts, but still. Toyota, if you're listening, I'm here to help consult on the 4.5 Gen refresh, lol. We'll make it all right.

And for the record. I really like this truck. I sold my 3rd Gen Tacoma for it. Not upset at all. Just making conversation. Nothing is perfect!

Picture for attention... How my truck sits now...

As much as everyone loves the new safety sense features, I'm not a big fan. I've completely disabled everything. I hate that the vehicle will take the wheel and "try" to do what it thinks is right. Don't get me wrong, it's intuitive for sure, but I can't stand not being in control. Haha

My biggest annoyance is the gas tank size.

I think the trailer brake controller should be available on all trims.

The trailer hitch requires a longer hitch pin. While Toyota did give me the correct size hitch pin, I had to buy a new locking hitch pin that would fit

Stock tires are kind of meh

As others mentioned the electronics/sensors can be annoying (especially in a snowstorm)

outside of the above, the truck has been awesome. Better in just about every way over my 07 tacoma or my wife's 5th gen 4runner.

Yeah I think we turned off all the same things. The auto braking, the steering wheel assist (which is nice on adaptive cruise), etc.

I will say, the TSS saved me from one accident where I didn't see a seal coating truck parked on a major road since I was distracted by a car next to me that was smoking like crazy...

Dude! How could I forget about the gas tank... I agree. Should be larger.

For me it's the gas tank size, hitch pin size and battery location. The size of the gas tank is a pretty obvious annoyance and is weird there was no change from the previous gen.

I run a bike rack a lot and the size of all the hitch pins that I have are all consistently an inch too short. Since the rack has some sort of threaded or locking style you can't buy a longer bolt or a generic extension it's gotta be rack specific and some companies offer extensions but not long enough ugh. A minor inconvenience but something I feel like didn't need to be changed they did anyways.

The battery location was also mentioned a few times but for the hybrid models having it under the rear seat is goofy for wiring accessories when you run out of the aux locations. The engine bay is excessively crowded but seems a little odd they couldn't have squeezed it in somewhere.

The tech is a double edged sword but I've been overall happy with it and don't have too many complaints, I still love the truck!

Gas tank and range is a big one!
