Yo guys, just a heads up... the 4th Gen Tacoma CV axle is compatible with the 2nd/3rd Gen Tacoma. Length, splines, and everything seemed to mate up with the diff and the unit bearing just fine.

Might be a good idea for a CV upgrade for the 2nd/3rd Gen Tacoma guys, or if the 4th Gen guys want a spare CV, I don't see why a 2nd/3rd gen CV would fit into a 4th Gen.

When we were out on the Rubicon the other day, one of our 2nd Gen homies (Tacodust Jason) blew a CV, so we grabbed a 4th Gen Tacoma spare from another vehicle, and after taking some measurements, everything was, for the most part, the same.

Good info for older gen guys. Maybe it's a budget friendly CV upgrade for older gens. Also, worth noting that the 4G has two different size CVs. The first time, to my knowledge. Not sure about 2/3G working in a 4G, maybe short term, because the track width is wider in the 4G. Something to think about.

That is probably the best news this year. I have two rebuilt CVs from our 2nd Gen laying in the garage collecting dust.

I would double check if it works the other way around. The 4G technically has longer components since it is wider. It works on a built 2G to use 4G axles, but the other way around might be too short. And they definitely aren't as strong. They could work in a bind, but you could have a bigger issue if the axles breaks or falls out of the differential. Also, if I remember correctly, the 4G has two different length CVs, so they are side specific...
