Hey everyone. Putting together a few thoughts on my new tire setup. I'm running the new Arroyo RT in a 33x12.5x17. I've had them on for about 1,000 miles, so it's a good time for some quick thoughts.
RTs are a newer tire category, they combine AT and MT treads into a hybrid design. This leaves you with a more aggressive tread, but without the typical downfalls of mud terrains.
Road noise is as expected. They aren't the quietest RT, but they don't howl like crazy or anything. Time will tell as they wear, but all tires get louder with age.
On-road performance has been great. I've used them in the snow and in the rain as well. Grip is pretty good. I've had to do some emergency braking a couple times to avoid an accident, and they gripped well.
I haven't had a chance to test them in harder trail conditions yet, but the tread pattern leads me to believe they'll do just fine.
I do like how they look. A good set of tires can really change the look of your truck. Another cool feature is the dual colored sidewall. You can run them with the red letters facing in or out. I usually don't go for something as loud as red, but it works really well with the Bronze Oxide and machined wheels. I'm adding some SXTH Element red recovery points soon to help tie it all together. Might do some silver and red decals on the bed or fender to really bring it home.
Right now, the majority of sizes (besides 37s) are F load. This is a bit firm for a mid-size truck, but this current generation Tacoma is a bit more robust than previous ones. Hopefully they expand their lineup to include C, D, and E loads. That would make it a better fit if you're more sensitive to ride quality. They get the job done, but some people may not like them.
Let me know if you have any questions!
