Installation Instructions for 2024+ Hybrid Toyota Tacoma Sliders from Backwoods Adventure Mods

Backwoods Adventure Mods Sliders – Installation Instructions I recently purchased the Backwoods Adventure Mods Sliders and couldn’t find any instructions online on how to install them, so I went ahead and documented the process in case anyone had questions. The install is pretty straight forward and took a couple of hours, which included taking pictures and videos. Supplies Needed Socket wrench Extension (not needed, but it helps) Sockets: 12mm, 13mm, and 17mm Brace to lift sliders up near the frame Step One – Remove the Grounding Bolt (Passenger Side) On the passenger side, use the 12mm socket to remove the bolt that runs through the grounding wire. On the hybrid model, there are two bolts — remove the one closer to the front of the truck. Tuck the wire onto the frame & out of the way. Save this bolt, as you will be reusing it later. Step Two – Position the Slider Using a brace or any stable object you have nearby, bring the slider up to frame level. Position it near the truck in a way that allows you to line up the holes in the frame with the holes in the slider. I used a storage bin, which allowed me to keep most of the weight supported while lifting one side at a time. Step Three – Install the Supplied Hardware Grab four of the supplied M10 bolts and four washers, and assemble them together. Starting at the rear of the slider: Lift the slider high enough to hand tighten two bolts into 2/3 of the empty slots available. Only tighten them enough by hand to keep the slider from falling or misaligning. Move to the front of the slider and repeat the same process. I found it easier to start with the two slots located on the side of the truck’s frame, rather than the two underneath the frame. Once those are hand tightened, continue working from the front to the back of the vehicle, filling each slot on the slider with the supplied hardware and hand tightening them as you go. Step Four – Tighten All Hardware Once all slots are filled with hand-tightened bolts: Use your 12mm socket wrench to tighten everything down. You can use the extension if you need additional space near some of the reinforcements, though it is not 100% necessary. After all bolts are tightened: Grab the grounding wire and place it back into its original location. Reinstall the saved bolt and tighten it down to ensure a good connection. This step is only required on the passenger side. Installation Complete That completes the installation. It is very straight forward and can be done by yourself if you feel comfortable lifting the sliders into position. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out and I’ll get back with you. So I’ve put the DRT hitch skid on the back, to protect the stock bumper until we’ve got options. I know cbi makes an engine skid but with shipping and powdercoat it’s about $1130. Has anyone found a front engine skid for a reasonable price? What we got from factory doesn’t instill a whole lotta confidence tbh.
