If you find it tough to use your truck's cruise control, this thread would be of help to you. It actually gets easy once you know how.

First thing to note is, your truck has two types: adaptive (it slows down when it sees a car in front) and regular cruise control, both controlled from the left side of the steering wheel.

Here's what to do:

1. Hit the top-right button to turn on cruise control.

2. Press the next button to turn lane-centering on or off.

3. Set your speed with the middle button (up or down).

4. Change between modes (adaptive/regular) with the right button.

5. In adaptive mode, pick one of three following distances with the bottom button; the dash will show three bars for the chosen setting.

Once you get these steps down, cruising will be smoother. Would appreciate if other owners talk about their time using it or ask questions here to help others get good at their Tacoma’s cruise control.
