From a reliable source, I just heard that this is now a thing.

"If you disconnect the battery on a hybrid, you have to take the vehicle back to the dealer and have them reboot the entire ecu. We went to drive the vehicle after installing everything, reconnected the battery terminals and the entire dash was a Christmas tree. The customer called to see when the truck would be ready and I told him about the lights. He laughed and said let me guess, you disconnected the battery."

Damn. That. Sucks.

WHAT?! You have to have Toyota reboot the computer? Dude... what if I have to pull the main starter battery to fix something on the trail? Not good. My first time hearing this.

Yeah, we need to get @TRD JON to test this for us to confirm. There has to be a way to bypass this at some point if this is the case.

I sure hope so, otherwise, this is a crippling feature.

My last Ford F150 was a hybrid and had another much smaller battery already connect in line so you could disconnect the battery without losing data. I guess Toyota didn't include that in their system.

Video has some idea's

Also good idea
