I am currently working on a video in which I compare both the new 4Runner and the new Tacoma. While they are pretty similar, I do feel that the 4R is clearly the better built version along with better feeling materials too upon initial impressions. I do however think that the Tacoma looks better though than the new 4R...I'll admit that.

4Runner Pros:
Softer seats/ higher quality
Smoother ride on the road
Made in Japan quality. Zero rattles (so far)
More rear seat space

Tacoma Pros:
Acoustic glass
Better front end design
Currently more mods
Larger "cargo" area with the bed

I used to have two 4Runners. 3rd Gen and 4th Gen. And I have plenty of experience with the 5th Gen. All great vehicles. But once I got in a truck, especially for wheeling and camping, I knew I always needed a truck bed! Would be nice to have both though... lol.
