Just wanted to throw my two cents in for anyone worried about mud terrain tire noise on the 4th gen. I’m running 33" Overlander M/Ts from Rough Country and so far I’ve been really happy with them. Off-road they’ve been awesome tons of grip and confidence on dirt, mud, and loose stuff.

As far as road noise goes, yeah, they’re a bit louder than an all-terrain, but honestly not bad at all. I was expecting way worse. My older base model Camry actually makes almost the same amount of noise at highway speeds, so the Tacoma being pretty well insulated definitely helps keep everything quiet.

Don’t get me wrong, mud terrains are probably overkill for 90% of people, but if it’s what you want, the noise really isn’t a dealbreaker. They hum a little, but it’s totally livable, and the trade-off for the traction is worth it in my opinion.

I think if you're going to modify your truck at all, you better get used to more noise...

My whole truck is big and loud. It doesn't bother me much, and you can drown out a good amount with the radio. I like the performance and look of MTs, over the lack of noise in less aggressive tread patterns.

No kidding. I was just expecting a ridiculous amount of noise, but its honestly not that bad at all.
