Wired up the Garmin 2 mini dashcam with the Dongar 10-pin Type B Adapter and am so happy with the turn out! I always hated all the extra wires around the cab when having to utilize the cigarette plug for power and also hated that I then couldn't charge anything from it if I wanted to have the dash cam running as well so this is a huge game changer!
Super easy plug and play into the rear view mirror harness. Had it all done in about 5-10 minutes.

Only thing I may change up is the camera (while I like how small this one is, I would prefer one with a screen) and also thinking about adding Dongars new PRO adapter which would allow recording to continue once the vehicle is off.

I will update once I do!

Update!! Ended up switching over to the Dongar Pro and to the Vantrue N4 dash cam and this has made a perfect combo!

I like having the screen on the dashcam (plus it records the interior of the vehicle). The Dongar Pro has also been a nice upgrade as it essentially does the same thing as the original adapter but the Pro includes 3 different modes on the adapter:
**Ignition**: The dash cam runs when the vehicle is running and shuts off when the vehicle is turned off.
**Timed**: Ensures continuous recording for up to 4 hrs after the vehicle is turned off.
**Continuous**: Runs even after the vehicle shuts off for up to 36 hrs on most new and healthy batteries. The adapter will automatically turn off the dash cam if the battery voltage drops too low.

Another thing to note is that the Pro works best with a higher-powered dash cam. I tried it with my Garmin and kept hearing a really high frequency ringing noise and after reaching out to the company, they let me know that they had similar feedback with people using it to power low-frequency cameras and were working on fixing that. But made the switch to the Vantrue and haven't had any issues since!

Glad you mentioned the “high frequency ring“ because when I first started the dashcam. I had to format the 128 micro sd card. After that it doesn’t do the high frequency ringing.

Quick update: The high frequency ringing, it does it but sometimes. Although it does get annoying at times.

Sorry! I didn't see this earlier! But that's unfortunate! I didn't even think about reformatting the SD card. But yeah it's something I only experienced with the PRO and with my Garmen. It's been a couple of weeks since I swapped to the Vantrue camera and haven't experienced anything!

That's a great question...according to the website it should shut off but I guess I haven't tested that on a 24 hr mode camera 🤔

Does the Pro provide true "ignition/acc off" power, for the 24hr mode cameras?
It has three modes. From left to right.

1) starts upon ignition and turns off when the truck is off completely.

2) It will record for 36 hours loop and until it senses the battery is low it’ll shutoff.

3) It’ll record for 4 hours after the truck is off.

Thanks, good to know...
