Silicone on roof rack bolts during installation?

Everyone knows what a hard shell is and how beneficial it can be, but if you don’t know what a SmartCap is you may just be missing out. I got lucky enough to find one of these on facebook marketplace for a good deal. The quality of these is truly amazing. The weather sealing (if done correctly) holds up very well. The pop up doors are my favorite when it comes to this hard shell. These doors even lock on the side. My only complaint is the rubber that sits on the locking mechanism can break off when cold. So far my experience with the Smartcap has been good but I’ll keep everyone updated on problems and future experiences!

I would usually put a silicone on under the bolts during installation but I noticed the 4G taco has an OEM tape around the holes that seems to seal everything when tightened down.. anyone else know what I’m talking about? Should I take it back apart and add some?
