Was on a night trail at Lytle creek with a group nothing crazy of a trail but it was rocky and it was a lot of us so we were going slow but I was still in four hi there was a certain point where I felt like I couldn’t give it gas and then was able to give it some till I got the warning of my transmission running hot.I wasn’t checking my temperature because just before this it was going through the trail like a beast won’t lie I’m hoping it was just user error and maybe I should’ve been in 4low but I was also with some other buddies in a 2nd and 3gen Tacoma that were running 4 hi on the trail that didn’t have a problem just a little worry some when now I feel like I have to worry about my off road truck being stuck off roading

I've had overheating issues with my 3rd Gen. Especially with a fully built truck at elevation. I added a better radiator and watch temps with my scangauge now.

My Fj gets hot when running 4 hi as well. If off road and under 20, 4-low. That's just the way its designed. Some vehicles can get away with it, but its not the way they are supposed to be ran.

The Honda Ridgeline doesn't have low range gears, which is a big part of why no one takes it seriously as an offroad/overlanding platform. Low range is something you paid a premium for, so take advantage of it.
