2025 Tacoma TRD Offroad Long Bed Upgrade Package
My dad picked up a 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport, and I’ve been comparing it side by side with my TRD Off-Road. One of the first things everyone notices on the Sport is the hood scoop. It definitely gives the truck a more aggressive look, but I can’t see any real connection to performance.

From what I can tell, it doesn’t channel air into the intake or help with cooling it just sits there as a cosmetic piece. It is a debate on whose truck looks better and honestly I like the TRD Sport hood scoop it is good, just can't tell him that.

That said, I can't see any performance advantages that his truck has that mine doesn't. It makes the truck stand out and has that throwback styling that a lot of people like. But if you’re thinking about it from a functional standpoint, I don’t see any real benefit.

So yeah, it seems like the scoop is more about looks than anything else. Anyone know if Toyota had any practical reason for including it, or is it just purely for aesthetics?

Zero benefit to my knowledge. Just looks cool lol. Sometimes they have an insert you can remove to allow air to flow, but not sure on the 4Gs. Even if you did, the engine has enough cooling support, etc., that it really wouldn't have a very large impact on overall temps. But something you could test, if the insert is removable. If not, forget everything I said.

Aesthetics = Horsepower. I will definitely test next time I have his truck.
