This thread consolidates the information from pages 483-485 of your 2024+ Toyota Tacoma Owner's Manual, explaining how to safely use the 120V AC bed power outlet for powering electronic devices.
WARNING
For safe use: Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
- Source: Page 485
• Do not use devices such as the following when driving:
- Devices which cannot be properly secured within the vehicle.
NOTICE
Do not use an accessory that uses more than 12 V 10 A.
- Source: Page 483
To prevent battery discharge: Do not use the power outlet longer than necessary when the engine is not running.

The 120V AC outlets are located in two convenient positions:
• Rear of Console Box (Interior) - Open the lid to access
• Truck Bed (Exterior) - Open the lid to access
Both controlled by single AC120V switch. Press to turn on/off. Indicator light illuminates when power is active.

While Driving: Maximum 120V AC / 100W
Parked (Shift Not in P/N): Maximum 120V AC / 100W
Parked (Shift in P/N): Maximum 120V AC / 400W

Connection: Open lid, fully insert plug, device powers up.
Disconnection: Turn device off, press AC120V switch, disconnect plug, close lid.

Compatible: Smartphone chargers, laptop supplies, LED work lights, Dometic freezers, LiFePO4 battery boxes
NOT Compatible: Devices with high peak wattage, power stations (gas models), precision measuring devices, timer-dependent devices
- Source: Pages 484-485
Outlet may be temporarily unavailable when engine restarts via Stop & Start system. This is not a malfunction. Press AC120V switch again to re-enable.

If AC120V indicator doesn't illuminate:
1. Check power consumption doesn't exceed limits
2. Verify connected devices aren't malfunctioning
3. Cool vehicle interior if very hot
4. Ensure shift in P/N, verify wattage under 400W
5. If still failing, contact Toyota dealer

What Works: Dometic freezers, LiFePO4 battery boxes work reliably.
What Doesn't: Power stations on gas models (modified sine wave inverter incompatibility). Hybrid models work fine.
Best Practice: Run engine every 30-45 minutes for extended use.
Gas-engine 4th Gen Tacomas use modified sine wave inverters. Power stations (Jackery, Bluetti, Ecoflow, Pecron) will NOT charge - they detect poor power quality and refuse. This is a known incompatibility, not a defect.
Hybrid models have pure sine wave inverters and don't have this limitation.
